Hello, I’m Anna. Welcome to my newborn photography page.
Capturing your newborn is so incredibly precious and you can never replace this amazing and fleeting time.
You will be forever grateful that you have professional newborn photography images that will be cherished forever.
As a mother of three with a Master of Arts in Photography, I have been specialising in newborn photography Sydney since 2000. I have exhibited my photographs in Europe and Australia, was the featured maternity photographer in Antonia Kidman’s television series “From Here to Maternity” and have had my work published in a range of publications including “My Nikon Life”. My newborn photoshoots take place in my Avalon studio, on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, or in your own home.

Newborn Photography Session
Newborn studio photography sessions are held in my Avalon studio, in a relaxed and cosy environment, creating beautiful newborn portraits that you will cherish forever.
How to book in
I recommend you book your newborn photoshoot during your pregnancy, basing the appointment on your due date, and then calling me soon after your newborn baby is born to confirm the time. Of course, if your baby is early or late we will reschedule (newborns have priority!). It's also no problem to do the newborn photoshoot when the baby is a bit older if that suits you better.
You can enquire via email or give me a call to book a date. We can also have a chat on the phone or email beforehand so I can answer any questions you may have before booking. A $190 Newborn Photography Creative Fee is due when booking your session. This fee is non-refundable but transferable to another date. I will email you a link so you can book online.
Pre-Shoot Consultation
After booking, I will email you with more detailed information about the session. Feel free to give me a call or email with any questions or ideas you may have. If you have any specific newborn images in mind, let me know, so I can make sure we capture these for you as well.
Editing, Viewing, and Ordering
After the newborn photoshoot I will carefully edit your images, creating a black & white and colour version of each photo. The images will be uploaded to a private password-protected online gallery for you to view in the comfort of your own home approximately one week after the session. From there, you can choose your favourites newborn photos and select the collection that suits you best. Your images will be ready approximately one week after you place your order.
Retouching
The images that your order will then be individually retouched/photoshopped again in more detail. This can include things like the removal of stray hairs, milk spots on the baby’s skin, rashes etc.

Newborn Photoshoot FAQs

All stages of babyhood have their own special brand of magic. The best time to capture your baby as a “true” newborn is between 5 and 10 days old, when your newborn baby is fragile yet miraculous, and still retains its womb-like behaviour of curling up and sleeping anywhere.
From 14 days to 12 weeks, your baby still has the distinctive newborn look but is gradually becoming more alert and aware of the world, building a connection with you through smiles, eye contact and physical bonding. In this phase, your newborn is often awake for a lot of the photo shoot although we can usually capture some gorgeous sleeping shots as well. With newborns it is lovely to do some no-nappy shots, so bring a change of clothes for yourself and anyone else who is going to be in the photos in case you get peed on! If you have any bloomers that you can put over the nappy bring them along (but they are not essential), plus anything else you would like to incorporate in the photo, such as a soft toy, blanket, hat, etc.

There is no time limit on the newborn studio photography photoshoots, however, the sessions usually go for about 1.5 to 2 hours. We just work around you and your baby’s needs. This allows your newborn to set the pace, so you and your baby have plenty of time to take a break whenever your newborn wants a feed or needs to be settled.

No problem! I know some people are busy in the lead-up to a baby’s birth and run out of time to organise the session. Just give me a call or email to check my availability and organise a time (newborns have priority!)

Yes, I can do the newborn session in your home if you prefer.

You don’t need to go and buy anything special but it is good to avoid big logos or bold patterns. It’s not essential to wear the same colours but neutral colours work well. You can find more info from my blog “What to Wear for your Newborn Photoshoot”
Newborn Photography Prices and Packages
The Creative fee is $190 - this includes the shoot, editing of images, and your private online gallery.
Packages start from $650 with a collection of High Res Images in both Black and White and Colour individually photoshopped, plus a beautiful mobile gallery app.
When Booking a Maternity Session with me, you will also receive a $100 discount off the newborn session.
