Taronga Centre Wedding Venues
If you are after a wedding venue with amazing view – perhaps to show of Sydney for overseas guest, close to Sydney CBD and you love love animals, you have to check out the Taronga Centre.
It is located just next to the Taronga Zoo in Mosman. I have mostly photographed wedding ceremony’s and receptions at the at the The Habourview Garden Court and receptions at the The Harbourview Terrace
The Habourview Garden Court venue is inside the zoo which is really cool. Imagine standing there just about to say yes and a mighty lion suddenly start roaring or one of those crazy birds going of – it makes for a great atmosphere.
If you have your wedding at the Taronga Centre the Zoo are happy for us to go three different spots around the Zoo for some photos of the couple and the bridal party.
I often use the the elephant enclosure and the two great houses next door.
The Bird Pavilion
The bird pavilion has an amazing view of the city with the opera house and harbour bridge just right there.
We also some times head up to the giraffe or the old elephant house.
But what i like the most just wondering around the pathways shooting on the way to the different locations. The Zoo had a great relaxed atmosphere with lost of greenery, views and small quirky places such as the ice cream van.
Taronga Centre has heaps of different venues you can have your wedding ceremony and your wedding reception. I think 6 of them are great for weddings. Some suitable for small wedding and some for 200 to 400 guests.
The Harbourview Garden Court is a really cute little venue with a great vintage feeling. Its a half enclosed with wooden walls a row of windows all the way round and roller blinds for weather protections.
For a ceremony it can hold 100 people – 40 seated and 60 standing. For a reception 60 seated or 100 cocktail. Its a wonderful place for both.
For a ceremony you can get a very dreamy romantic look from the back light from all the windows. The light is very beautiful to work with.
Its so lovely when the bride arrives – you can get a few glimpse of her thru the vines covering the pergola in the courtyard before she enters the Harbourview Garden Court.
If you like to do a big group photo you can go up to the Harbourview Terrace in the Taronga Centre were you have a great view from above.
There is no problem with patrons visiting the Zoo wondering in as the The Harbourview Garden Court is privately located.
It is a wonderful place for a reception as well – really romantic and intimate with the sound of the Zoo at night as your background music. As the Zoo closes at 4:30, you do feel that you have it all to yourself.

At the Taronga Centre you are also very close to some other great places for wedding photography.
Just down the road you have Bradley’s Heads, with the great wharf. If there are a wedding happening at the amphitheater at Bradley’s you can not access the area so you will have to stay on the top level and shoot.
Georges Height Lookout, Clifton Gardens, Chowder Bay and Balmoral Beach is within 10 min drive as well.
At Georges Height Lookout you have the same issue as Bradley’s Heads. if there is a wedding ceremony you can not shoot there.
The Harbourview Terrace
Amazing Sydney Harbour views located inside the Taronga Centre.
If you are there on sunset you guest will have a beautiful experience. I remember one beautiful sunset – the whole room was glowing red and the guest was transfixed by the beauty in front of them.
You realize what an amazing place Sydney really is.
There is also a balcony the guest can access. You can have maximum 200 guest seated or 250 cocktail.
