Baby Session Information
From three months of age, your newborn has transformed into a plump and dimpled baby and the loving and cheeky personality starts to emerge. At this age, babies are also awake for longer periods and they are more aware of their surroundings and more responsive to family members. This is a magical opportunity for me to capture your baby’s development and the joyous interaction you share as a family. Best of all, I can catch those beautiful fleeting expressions of curiosity, surprise, delight and adventurous spirit.
Baby portrait sessions are usually done between 3 months and 9 months of age. Each phase of babyhood offers different opportunities for a beautiful photo session. At four months old, babies can hold their head up, and by around six to nine months, you baby will be able to sit up for a photo. As you can imagine, it is best to do the shoot before the baby is crawling!
The baby photography session usually goes for about 1.5 hours. This time frame allows the baby to set the pace, so you and your baby both stay relaxed and have fun together, with plenty of time to take a break whenever the baby wants a feed or needs to be settled. The session can also include siblings, parents and grandparents.
What to wear
I recommend simple clothes in plain colours. Avoid clothes that have bold patterns or logos as these may detract from the photos.
Bring a change of clothes and some spare nappies – we also recommend you bring a change of clothes for yourself as surprise accidents can happen if you are holding the baby during the nappy-free part of the photo shoot.
