Engagement photography also known as pre wedding photoshoot have been increasing in popularity in recent years – and I really love shooting them. It is a great way for couples to get a collection of beautiful engagement photos you can use for everything from wedding invitations to engagement announcements. WHAT IS A PRE-WEDDING PHOTOSHOOT?
This isn’t a trick question, a pre-wedding photoshoot is just what it sounds like. This is simply a photoshoot that you and your partner will take part in before your wedding day actually arrives. Couples use the engagement photos shoot as an opportunity to get some awesome pictures at their a favourite locations, which can include the city of Sydney, beach, park, the Northern Beaches or even a bush track in a National Park. Engagement photography will often take place months (or in some cases just weeks) before the actual wedding day. For many of the couples that I work with, the average range for engagement shoots is around three to six months before the wedding day.
HOW MUCH DOES ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY COST?
If you have booked me for your wedding photography the engagement photo shoot or pre wedding shoot is $490. All my Pre wedding or engagement packages includes drone photography, private online gallery from where you can download all your images. All travel up to one hour from the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

WHY HAVE AN ENGAGEMENT PHOTO SHOOT?
An engagement photo shoot is not an absolute necessity, but there are tons of reasons why I think you should consider doing one.
You will have a little snapshot of your pre-wedding love story. You get a set of beautiful engagement pictures you can use for “save the date”, announcement, and invitations. Creating a guest book and/or a framed print with engagement photos that your guests and family can write in and sign on the day of the wedding which you can keep as a special memory forever.
Probably the biggest reason to have engagement photo shoot is to get used to being in front of the camera for a reasonable period of time, and get rid any camera shyness you might have before the big day.
SAY GOODBYE TO ANY CAMERA ANXIETY, AWKWARDNESS AND SHYNESS…..
With most of the couples I photograph there will always be one who tells me they feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. The thought of having someone there with a camera photographing them all day can feel like a daunting prospect.
I can pretty much guarantee that on the wedding day, with or without a pre-wedding shoot, even the most camera shy groom or bride will feel relaxed about me photographing and documenting their wedding “love story”. Don’t know if it is the hustle and bustle of the day making them forget about me, or maybe my relaxed and calming nature 🙂
…..but catching up and getting to know each other during a pre-wedding shoot takes it to the next level.
A pre-wedding photoshoot gives you a change to get used to being in front of the camera and you realise that it is not such a big deal after all. It is actually quite fun and you get to share some beautiful moments with your soon to be husband or wife which can be captured in time and treasured forever.
You also get to see how gorgeous you two look together when photographed by a professional.
WHERE TO SHOOT
Sydney and surrounds have a million stunning locations for an engagement shoot. If you have a favourite place that means something to you … the place you got engaged, favourite beach, park, bush walk or an inner-city cafe, lets shoot there. If not, I have some favorite locations I would love to take you to. Some of my favorite places on the Northern Beaches are Palm Beach, Whale Beach, McCarrs Creek, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Turimetta Beach, Freshwater Beach, North Head Manly, Bradleys Head, and Athol Hall Beach.
In and around the city of Sydney we have some beautiful view points for Sydney Opera House and of course Opera House it self, but also some cool places like Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Gardens, Lavender Bay and Cockatoo Island, Woolwich Dock, Clark Point Reserve, The Rocks, Royal Botanical Gardens. Eastern Suburbs we have the beautiful Paddington Reservoir Gardens and Vaucluse with so many amazing places. Nielsen Park, Milk Beach, Camp Cove Beach and Macquarie Lighthouse. Further south, Cronulla beach and Wanda Beach are amazing and so is Cape Solander.
AFTER THE SHOOT
…..all the photos will be uploaded to your own private online gallery, where you can download all your images in high resolution ready for printing at your favorite lab. You also have the option to share with family and friends. If you have booked us to shoot your wedding it is great for me to know some of your favorite images so I can keep those style of shots in mind on the wedding day.
A wonderful thing about a pre-wedding photography shoot is – they will be a beautiful reminder of a very special time in you and your partners relationship.
